Adriel Joshua Ong, a high school senior at BRIGHT Academy, was named First Runner Up in the 5th Philippine Heart Association Oratorical Contest – Regional Level held on January 21, 2012 at Cebu Medical Society Bldg., Banilad, Cebu City. During the competition, he bested other top schools and universities in Cebu, such as Ateneo De Cebu – Sacred Heart School, University of San Jose-Recoletos, University of the Philippines – Cebu, PAREF Southcrest School, and University of Southern Philippines – Foundation. STC won by a slight difference of 0.3 point in the average score. All contestants expounded the theme, “what can i contribute to promote a healthy lifestyle in the youth sector. ” Ong was coached by T. Englevert Reyes and T. Ionell Jay Terogo. The said speech content is sponsored annually by the Philippine Heart Association in celebration of Heart Month.
